Carole Joy Smith Endowed Education and Research Fund for Biological Sciences

Established by Mrs. Jane Marie Perry Smith through her last will and testament. Earnings support and enhance educational and research efforts in the Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Alabama, especially in areas relating to Ms. Carole Joy Smith’s research specialty on the effects of methyl mercury compounds on mammalian development. The fund supports activities including, but not limited to, the following: enhancement of graduate teaching assistantships; travel and research grants for students; research grants for exploratory research efforts; science educational outreach activities for children through The University of Alabama Arboretum; and purchase of research equipment.
