Dr. David Jack Rowland and Sue Ellen Rowland Summers Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by Mrs. Sue Ellen Rowland Summers of Mountain Brook, Alabama, in association with both the Jefferson County and Walker County Alabama Alumni Chapters. Priority of consideration is given to entering freshmen or transfer students enrolling in the College of Education at The University of Alabama. Among entering freshmen only those demonstrating a minimum 24 ACT composite (or corresponding SAT) and a minimum cumulative 3.0 high school grade point average are eligible for consideration. Among transfer students, only those demonstrating a minimum cumulative 3.0 community college grade point average are eligible. The following additional priorities apply in order of preference: a) entering freshmen from a high school in Walker County, Alabama, and students transferring from Bevill State Community College, Walker College (Jasper) campus who indicate their primary residence as Walker County; b) entering freshmen from a high school in Jefferson County, Alabama, and students transferring from Bevill State Community College, Walker College (Jasper) campus who indicate their primary residence as Jefferson County; c) entering freshmen from a high school located in any other county in Alabama and students transferring from Bevill State Community College, Walker College (Jasper) campus who indicate their primary residence as any other county in Alabama. Among qualified applicants, preference is given to those students who indicate involvement with ROTC, in particular Army ROTC. The scholarship is renewable.
