Paul Bryant Overachiever Scholarship

Established by Larry J. Ruffin to honor former University of Alabama head football coach Paul W. “Bear” Bryant and to promote the recruitment and education of out-of-state students at The University of Alabama. Priority of consideration is given to qualified applicants from the following areas, listed in order of preference: (1) graduates of Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida, (2) graduates from high schools in the city of Orlando, Florida, (3) graduates from high schools in the Central Florida area including the following counties: Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia, Lake, Polk, Flagler, and Sumter. Students should demonstrate a desire to work hard and to exceed expectations not only in academics, but to excel in all phases of life. Student applicants must submit a 300-word essay stating the reasons they should be considered for the award.
