Les Yates Emerging Leader Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established by Les Yates, in association with the Dallas-Fort Worth Texas Alumni Chapter. Priority of consideration shall be given to freshman or transfer students graduating or who have graduated from a high school located in the Sarasota-Manatee, Florida, Alumni Chapter area (Sarasota and Manatee counties), or whose current residence at the time of application is located in the Sarasota-Manatee, Florida, Alumni Chapter area, who have achieved a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Further consideration shall be given to those applicants who demonstrate admirable character by being a servant-leader and to those students who have actively participated in Jr. ROTC or indicate a desire to serve in the military. The scholarship is automatically renewable for each succeeding year of the recipient’s undergraduate education, not to exceed a total of four academic years of study (eight semesters consisting of fall and spring), provided the incumbent recipient’s academic performance and progress are of such quality as to justify such renewal by maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale.
