Ruth Evelyn Roberts, Higdon C. Roberts Jr., and Higdon C. Roberts III Endowed Scholarship

Established by Ruth Evelyn Roberts and the late Higdon C. Roberts Jr. to promote the education of deserving full-time students. Priority of consideration is given to full-time undergraduate students enrolled at The University of Alabama. Among qualified applicants, the deciding factor is financial need, although not necessarily need as defined by federal guidelines. It is the Donor Representative’s intent that the endowment earnings support students who have faced hardships in their personal lives and may not otherwise be able to attend college. The Donor Representative also requests that standardized test scores not be considered when selecting recipients and that only two recipients be chosen each year. The scholarship may be renewable for each of the subsequent years of a recipient’s undergraduate education provided the scholarship committee deems the recipient’s performance and academic progress satisfactory and provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
