Fayard Reading and Literacy Endowed Education Scholarship
Established by Gary P. Fayard and Nancy S. Fayard. Priority of consideration is given to undergraduate students who are enrolled in the College of Education, graduated from a high school in the state of Alabama, are eligible for Federal Pell grants or who otherwise demonstrate financial need as determined by federal aid guidelines; specifically, a Student Aid Index that calculates to financial need of 50% or more of the student’s total cost of attendance and maintain at least a 2.8 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for freshmen or a minimum 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale for sophomores, juniors and seniors. An essay highlighting the importance of reading and literacy education curriculum for future educators is required for applicant consideration.
