Sheldon P. Cox Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
Established by Leland M. Cox Jr. and the DeKalb County Alumni Chapter. Priority of consideration is given to entering freshmen student(s) or a transfer student from Northeast State Junior College located in DeKalb County, Alabama who graduated from a public high school and resides in the Valley Head High School zone (specifically the Mentone, Valley Head or Hammondville areas respectively). Of those students meeting the criteria, those enrolling in the Culverhouse College of Business have first priority. Second priority is given to those students meeting the criteria, and enroll in any other college within The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Further consideration of the recipient selection is based primarily on financial need along with a combination of academic achievement and leadership. If there are no qualified applicants, then the scholarship shall not be awarded until the qualifications are met. The scholarship is automatically renewable for each succeeding year of the recipient’s undergraduate education, not to exceed a total of four academic years of undergraduate study (eight semesters consisting of fall and spring), provided the incumbent recipient’s academic performance and progress are of such quality as to justify such renewal by maintaining a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average (C+) based on a 4.0 scale.
