Walter Lee Hovell, Sr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established by the children of Walter Lee Hovell, Sr. in association with the Limestone County Alumni Chapter. Selection alternates each academic year between entering freshmen from Citronelle High School in Mobile County, Alabama (or its successor) and Athens High School in Limestone County, Alabama (or its successor). For students from Citronelle High School, first priority is given to entering freshmen enrolling in the College of Arts and Sciences who express a music discipline or fine arts as their major course of study or enrolling in the Culverhouse College of Business indicating accounting as a career interest. Second priority is given to any entering freshmen from Citronelle High School. For students from Athens High School, first priority is given to entering freshmen enrolling in the College of Engineering. Second priority is given to entering freshmen enrolling in the College of Arts and Sciences who express math or physics as their major course of study. Third priority is given to entering freshmen enrolling the Culverhouse College of Business indicating accounting as a career interest. Fourth priority is given to any entering freshmen from Athens High School. The Hovell Family desires that all recipients demonstrate the same stellar characteristics of exemplary character, honesty, integrity, and respect that exemplified Walter Lee Hovell, Sr.
