Scott Armstrong Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund

Established by Don Armstrong, Corley Ellis, Mark Armstrong, and the Shelby County Alumni Chapter. Consideration is restricted to entering freshmen students graduating from Shelby County High School located in Columbiana, Alabama, or its successor should Shelby County High School cease to exist. Financial need is a primary factor if information regarding financial need is provided by the applicant or known by the selection committee, but not financial need as defined by federal guidelines. The scholarship is automatically renewable for each succeeding year of the recipient’s undergraduate education, not to exceed a total of four academic years of undergraduate study (eight semesters consisting of fall and spring), provided the incumbent recipient’s academic performance and progress are of such quality as to justify such renewal by maintaining a minimum cumulative 2.8 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale. It is preferred that a new entering freshman student be selected each academic year. The value of the scholarship is at the discretion of the selection committee on a year-to-year basis and is dependent upon the amount of available earnings. It is the intent of the donors to pick up a new freshman student each year so that at year four there would be a total of four students receiving the scholarship each academic year.
